Wynwood Art Walk

hello darlings.  in my last post i mentioned that we participated in a show earlier this month. i'm actually quite surprised that any pictures came out because it was unusually windy and the lows dropped into the 40's.  which, if you're me, is equivalent to borderline blizzard conditions.  then again, i drive with the heater on in the summer.  but i digress.  here are some photos of the set up.

Minimalistic Proposal

The other day a friend of mine was asking me about Llorente Design, after explaining to him what it is and what we do, he told me he'd make a stick-figure invitation for our line.  I laughed it off.  The next day in class he presents me with this:

Too funny.

I need a lot of This today

via Lovely Packag
This entire week I have stayed up waaaay late in an attempt to meet major deadlines. I didn't even realize until yesterday that Thanksgiving is next Thursday. Wow, where did November go?! Coffee and a little bit of deliriousness (yes it is a word, because I checked) from my sister, who is in law school and studying for finals is definitely what gets me through the day/night. Oh and of course, to add to my lack of sleep, Jack has been up every day at 5am. Oh the joys, of motherhood..I think he is testing me. :) Hard work pays off right?

via Lovely Package

Ok seriously, I am going to need all of this coffee and chocolate in the photo to stay up tonight.
Isn't the packaging just lovely?

Oh and a little this wouldn't be so bad either. wink. wink. ;)

Yahaira's 30th Birthday

I've spent the last several weeks researching and designing my friend, Yahaira's, 30th birthday party. Actually, correction she is having two 30th birthday parties which I think is so super fab! Yahaira is one of the type of  client everyone dreams about. She told me the colors she wanted: powder pink, citron, mint green and chocolate brown and that it had to be fun and girly. I took her very open-ended suggestions and just ran with it. There are not too many clients that let you design and then respond with a "I love it!" Thank you Yahaira, for choosing me to design your parties, I am having so much fun with them!

Oh, be sure to check her blog here.

More goodies to come in the next few weeks when everything is completed for her both events. Also be sure to check Llorente Design, as I will be posting more photos there as well.

Llorente Design on Indie Tot

Remember when Jack was featured over on The Indie Tot?  I am so excited to share with everyone that Llorente Design was featured on their blog over the weekend!!  I am so honored and thankful that they shared my party, in which I designed and styled everything for my sweet baby boy who turned 1 early last month. To see the full post over on The Indie Tot, please click here.

Sisterly Love at Arboleda and Art Walk

This past Saturday, we ventured out to Wynwood located in the Miami Design District for Art Walk.  It is held on the second Saturday of every month, if you've never been, go, trust me you won't be disappointed. Make sure to get there early and on an empty stomach. The streets are crowded with people of all ages and the gourmet food trucks share an open lot where you can eat, drink, and listen to good music.

Earlier that day we went to the first annual Arboleda fest, where locals sell vintage and handmade goods.  There was a great turn out, and lots of little ones running around, including Jack. Llorente Design is planning a debut at the next festival,  so be on the lookout for that. :)

To top it all off, the weather was beyond gorgeous! After the festival, we decided to grab dinner at Fratelli Lyon. Katrina and I definitely recommend the white chocolate/dark chocolate mousse, so yum! and Jack recommends, the vanilla gelato!

Katrina is wearing:
Leather bomber by H&M / Zara lace top / Leggings by H&M / Dolce Vita flats

Christie is wearing:
Elizabeth and James blazer / Vince tank / Theory leggings / Chinese Laundry boots

Goodies from Arboleda and Art Walk.

Holiday Cards 2011

This post really makes me realize how much I have been procrastinating in the Holiday arena. Yes, I have thought of designing a few Christmas cards to send out/for purchase. No, I haven't actually designed any yet. Maybe this post will push me into really doing it.

Here are some Holiday cards, I found over on Oh So Beautiful Paper.  Always my go-to inspiration blog. I can't believe we are only 2 weeks away from Thanksgiving, so nuts?!

Clean and Contemporary Nursery

I know it has been ages since I last did a post on anything babies or children. I have been consumed with work over at Llorente Design. I promise to share more things in this arena, soon!  In the meantime, here is a beautiful and contemporary nursery, I found over on Spearmint Baby. Don't you just love the framed eyeglasses print?! I want it for my studio!

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend! The Miami weather has been an absolute dream these past few days, low humidity, breezy and ohh seventy-something degrees.. L - o - v - e... Northerners be very jealous.

Herman Miller Love Triangle

For those of you who don't already know, we ladies here at Hip Mama Hip Baby have a love triangle going on with Herman Miller. Who is Herman Miller, you say? I am sure Jacqui will have plenty of input on this later.

Known for their beautifully designed home and office furniture, the Herman Miller Company has been designing and manufacturing furniture since 1905. You can read all about it here.

I came across these fab posters designed for Herman Miller over on Mr. French
Check them out.

I love Ludwig

One of my favorite pieces of architecture.

Completed in 1951, the Farnsworth House took 5 years to complete, its architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is responsible for creating some of the most beautiful (in my eyes) iconic modern designs.

Recognize this chair?  (Barcelona Chair) Yep, it's his design too, believe it or not (believe it) it's older than the house.

Counting Down the Days..

I know I am way, way, way, ahead.... of myself here...and I usually am when I get excited about something. My sister and I are planning an NYC trip next May. And, besides gallivanting around town, we plan on getting some business done while we are there.

Llorente Design is going to the National Stationery Show, held every year in May, it is the largest trade show where anyone in the paper and design industry can showcase their work in hopes of fulfilling large orders!  We plan to exhibit in May of 2013, so this May will serve as research, inspiration, visiting with friends and an occasional party or two :)

Here is a tiny snapshot of one of my many notepads. I love and need to take notes all the time, like last night at about 1am. Plus it helps me think and organize my crazy thoughts..Yes I love anything Sanrio, don't judge :)

Poster for Baby's First Year

For all you mom's out there, check out this super cute poster by Kalon Studios. This poster is a great way to show your baby's first year (while of course making you realize how quickly time goes by, and making you cry just a tiny little bit).

Paper Love Monday

Happy Monday to All! Hip Mama Hip Baby is back to posting regularly this week.

On Saturday, we celebrated my son's 1st Birthday, we all had a great time after battling tornado warnings, a flood watch and practically swimming our way through the day. A huge thank you to all, for making it happen despite the weather and occasional yelling on my part. sorry :)

More to come on Jack's whale and nautical themed celebration, within the next few days. In the meantime, here are a few pretty paper things to look at. I am swooning over these invitations. Ahhhh the inspiration begins to keep me going through the new week.  Hope you are all having a fabulous Monday morning! xo
