Art equals Miami

via Thee Blog
December is definitely my favorite time of year and while most of you are thinking, "duh, because of the holidays". I say "no, it's Art Basel Miami." Every year I look forward to all of the amazing art shows, speakers, parties, music and huge crowds of people from all over the world. We are so lucky Art Basel here, in Miami!!!

Art Basel will commence, this Thursday, December 1st and run through the weekend, ending Sunday, December 4th.

Various happenings will be held all around town. Here are a few links to help you navigate your way around the festivities that will be taking place.  Can you believe it's already been 10 years?!

Adventures of Christie and Jack

This past Friday, I had the lovely opportunity to meet with the wonderfully talented, Michelle March. I wanted to have Jack photographed in honor of his 1st birthday, coming up October 5th!! Michelle was also kind enough to shoot some photographs of me with Jack for a mini mother/son shoot. I loved every minute of it.  :)

All photographs were taken at the beautiful and historic Deering Estate.
Many thanks to my mom and sisters for helping with the shoot..

goal

Oh the importance of letting a baby make decisions! read closely or you could be scaring the hee-bee-gee-bees out of your baby (or nephew, in my case).

A few weeks back we took baby J to Toys R Us. In the stuffed animal isle we decided to show him a few fluffs to get a feel for what he likes and dislikes. If you're wondering, yes, at 9 months babies do have preferences and make decisions, if you don't believe me, go have a baby.

case in point:
yes please

no thank you
caused by a purple bear with a cupcakes and hearts motif

scared

get-me-out-of-here

clearly, the boy has preferences. knowing this, on a recent trip to ikea we wandered through the children's department and decided that baby J should have his choice of fluff (since toys r us was highly unsuccessful and maybe traumatic). I was unable to document the decision making process but I did catch a few photos of his fine selection, his very own soccer ball.

look at those cheeks, yum.

expression of the month

he eventually threw the ball and decided it was time to play with the camera

tired

moral of the story: next time you're out with baby let them choose their fluff to avoid putting the fear of god in their tiny souls (which purple bears can do)

until later....

(go gators!)

Boy Meets Girl

I am sure as I write this, it is safe to assume that most moms with sons have a hard time finding clothes for their little ones. Why is it that everywhere I go the ratio of clothes for girls vs. for boys is like 100:1.  Okay, I may be slightly exaggerating, but i do find it extremely difficult to find clothing that isn't blue, light blue or navy.   I mean, seriously, who decided that boys are only allowed to wear different shades of blue?

Okay, time to share a secret; during my pregnancy I "discovered" what has become my go-to, all time favorite, I-know-they-don't-sell-everywhere-else-kind-of-clothes, boutique.  Located on Miracle Mile, Boy Meets Girl (which has been around for 18 years!) is the answer to my prayers. The store sells contemporary, different clothes for both girls and boys (very refreshing).  I always find everything I am looking for -- and yes, they have other colors besides blue (hallelujah).  BMG also has a very good ratio of boy and girl clothes, none of that 100:1 nonsense.  Oh and Denise, the owner of this fab boutique, couldn't be any nicer and is always helpful and knowledgable. If you live in the Miami area or are just visiting, do yourself a favor and check out her shop.

I wanted to share some of the pieces I recently purchased for my son, at Boy Meets Girl! I am sooo in love with all of it, and cannot wait to put them on him! :)
